Uganda commissioned the 183.2 MW Isimba Hydropower Plant on the Nile in March 2019, built by China International Water and Electric Corporation. Construction had started in 2013 alongside Karuma, and Isimba became operational years earlier, adding meaningful capacity to the national grid and marking one of the country's major hydropower milestones of the decade.
